With a little spray paint and hundreds of colored flags, Austin-based artist Jennifer Chenoweth took Texas A&M University students on an emotional journey through the Bryan-College Station area without leaving campus.
Chenoweth, with help from the Texas A&M College of Architecture’s Diversity Council, created a scale map of the twin cities on the grassy area of A&M’s East Quad on Wednesday morning and invited students, faculty and staff walking through campus to map their emotional experiences as part of an ongoing art project titled The XYZ Atlas: The Experience Map of Bryan/College Station. Blue flags representing sadness, yellow for joy, green for fear or red for anger and others dotted the to-scale city as participants relived their experiences in the community that will soon be able to tell the area’s story through an emotional lens.
